Hi, I’m Stefano, the creator of Sense Italian

My love for languages started when I moved to England to learn English, over 10 years ago. As most people, I found it really hard to speak in real-life situations and every time I tried to talk to someone, my mind would go completely blank! It was frustrating, and I started to wonder if I’d ever feel comfortable with the language.

One night, during a quiet shift at a hostel, I picked up a random book just to pass the time. At first, it felt like a chore. I had to look up so many words, and it was slow going. But over time, I noticed something amazing—I was actually improving! The more I read, the more confident I felt, not only with vocabulary and grammar but also in real conversations with people around me.

That sparked my love for learning through stories, which is why I now use this method whenever I learn a new language. The only problem is, the story has to be good! I’ve often ended up reading simple, boring stories that didn’t really engage me.

But then I remembered the classics I read at university, like The Picture of Dorian Gray and Les Misérables. I wanted to understand them so badly that I would spend hours with a dictionary and translator. It wasn’t easy, but finishing those books felt amazing—like unlocking a whole new world of language and culture.

Now, I want to help you experience the same thing through Sense Italian. I’ve taken the magic of classics like The Divine Comedy and adapted them so they’re simple, engaging, and fun for intermediate learners.

My mission is simple: to make learning Italian unforgettable by connecting you to its most inspiring stories, adapted so they’re as rewarding for you as they were for me.
